A Matter of Membership: Ideas for Recruitment

by Mary Borger, Membership VP

As we all know by now, the Extravaganza at the Outlet at San Clemente did not turn out as expected. I did enjoy spending time at our table with fellow AAUW members. We had good conversations with each other, if not with passers by.

With this in mind, I feel it is time to reassess how we get the word out about our branch. Laurie Jacobs seems to have hit upon one good idea: placing articles in our local newspapers relating to our activities, etc.

Another idea might be for each of us to reach out to our friends and neighbors and even provide them with our membership application. Carole Shannon organized a lunch meeting to talk about our branch with her new neighbors and it turned out really well for all concerned. Besides, Sandy Cupp and I really enjoyed meeting the ladies and spreading the word.

How about inviting a friend or neighbor to join you while participating in our
monthly ZOOM meeting?

Does anyone else have any suggestions? I’m all ears!
