BOOK DISCUSSIONS

BOOK WORMS will meet Thursday, April 25 at 1:00 at Penha Tres-Brevig’s home to discuss the book ‘Lafayette in the Somewhat United States’ by Sarah Vowell. Marge Hobbs will lead the discussion. Please RSVP to Penha if you will be attending! For more information, contact Diana Phelps.

CONTEMPORARY NOVELS, PLUS will meet the last Monday of the month on April 29 at 1:00 at Tammy Isaacs’s home to discuss “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver. Robbin Ward will lead the discussion. Information will be sent to members via email. Contact person: Tammy Isaacs.

Good Night, IreneEVENING BOOKS meets the 3rd Monday of the month at 7PM. The group will meet on Monday,  April 15 at the home of Lori Cincotta to discuss “Good Night, Irene” by Luis Alberto Urrea. LITERARY CONVERSATIONS will meet Monday, April 1, 2024, 1:00 pm, at the home of Carol Tuch. Patricia Busch will lead the discussion of “A Passion in the Desert,” by Honeré De Balzac (pp. 7 – 19), in our new book, The Great Short Stories of the Masters. Information Contact: Laurie Jacobs.

Let's play bridgeBRIDGE: Bridge meets the 2nd Thursday of the month from 11:15 am to 3:30 pm at Fratello’s restaurant in San Clemente, lunch around noon. For the April 11 game, please RSVP to Nasra. Information Contact: Nasra Kwentus

MAH JONGG: The Mah Jongg group meets every two weeks on Friday evening at 6:15 p.m. The April games will be at Mary Sondag’s home on April 5 at 6 p.m. and at Toby Curry’s home on April 19 at 6 p.m. We would love to have new players. If you would like to join the group or learn to play Mah Jongg, contact Jane Robinett.

DINE OUT OPPORTUNITIES

HAPPY HOUR We will meet for Happy Hour on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 and May 1, 2024 at 4:00pm at San Juan Creek Golf Club. Everyone is welcome. It is a great way in a casual atmosphere to get to know your fellow AAUW members. You just need to let Suzi Klickstein know if you are coming, so we can set up the right amount of tables and chairs. Please don’t forget to wear your name tag.

LUNCH BUNCH: The Lunch Bunch will meet on Wednesday, April 17 at 11:30 at Asada Cantina + Kitchen, 225 West Avenida Vista Hermosa, San Clemente. Please make reservations with Lynda Winter. For information, please contact Lynda Winter or Audie Sturla.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

Foreign Policy Association logoINTERNATIONAL INTERESTS  meets at 1:00 on the second Tuesday of the month. Our next meeting will be on April 9, 2024 at 1PM at the home of Debbie Mecklenburg. The topic will be “The High Seas Treaty,” and the discussion will be facilitated by Irene Berardesco. Please let Irene Berardesco know if you would like to be on the email distribution list for 2024. MATINEE DRAMA meets the 2nd Friday of the month at 1:00 p.m.  The next meeting will be Friday, April 12 at the home of Patricia Busch at 1:00. We will be reading THE HEIDI CHRONICLES, a Pulitzer prize winning play from about 1990 and a witty, clever comedy.  Please RSVP to Tanya to let her know you will be attending. All are welcome! MEANDERING WOMEN, a walking, strolling and meandering group, generally meets every Saturday at 10:30 at the Dana Point Harbor in front of Harpoon Henry’s. We will not walk on Branch General Meeting dates. Sandy Cupp and Marge Hobbs are co-leaders.

MOVIE GROUP usually meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7PM. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 24 at the home of Joan Nielsen. Movie is Wicked Little Letters. Diana Phelps will lead the discussion. Contact: Joan Nielsen.
