President’s Message for October 2025

by Susan Rosenberger, co-president

Our first general meeting of the year was a big success. The Tech Trekkers who presented their creations and told of their experiences are always so inspirational to us. This year we were even presented with a musical piece and, at the finale, a group cheer to the program and to AAUW for giving them this gift. More wonderful programs are in the offing.

We have been notified by State that there is a new communication outlet for us to learn what is happening with our organization. It is named CALIFORNIA COMPASS, and we all will be receiving it via email monthly from State. In it we will find news from National and State, highlights from committees, even book recommendations.

The first book recommendation is THE FOUR PIVOTS: REIMAGINING JUSTICE, REIMAGINING OURSELVES by Shawn Ginwright. It investigates a pivot in how we think, act, and connect with others. The first discussion on Zoom takes place on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7 p.m. If you have any questions, contact Charmen Goehring, AAUW California President.

As I said at the September General Meeting, I am hoping we each allow ourselves to explore our organization a bit more. Try out a new interest group. Check out the committees for one you might be interested in helping with. Contact the chair of it and find out what she is doing and offer to help as an assistant. Come to more general meetings and come a bit early to introduce yourself to members you haven’t met yet. WE really are a great group of women.

I look forward to seeing you on October 17 at 1 P.M. in the VIP Room at the Outlets
