BOOK DISCUSSIONS

BOOK WORMS will meet on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Welcome to a
new year of reading! Our book will be ‘An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of
the 1960s’ by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Petti Van Rekom will lead our discussion at the

cover of James: A Novel by Percival EverettCONTEMPORARY NOVELS, PLUS will meet on Monday, January 27 at 1:00 to discuss James by Percival Everett and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Laurie Jacobs and Tammy Isaacs will lead the discussion at the home of Debbie Mecklenburg.  Information will be sent to members via email. Contact person: Tammy Isaacs.

EVENING BOOKS will meet on Monday, January 20 at 7PM at the home of Reggie Sharpe to discuss James: A Novel by Percival Everett. Joan Nielsen will lead the discussion. LITERARY CONVERSATIONS meets on the first Monday of the month at 1:00 pm. The next meeting will be Monday, January 6, 2025, 1:00 pm. Carol Tuch will host, and Patricia Busch
will lead discussion of “The Duchess and the Jeweller,” by Virginia Woolf, from our book

GAMES

MAH JONGG: The Mah Jongg group meets every two weeks on Friday evening at 6 p.m. TThe games will be at Laurie Jacobs’ home on January 10 at 6 p.m. and at Marge Hobbs’ home on January 24 at 6 p.m. We would love to have new players. If you would like to join the group or learn to play Mah Jongg, contact Jane Robinett.

DINE OUT OPPORTUNITIES

HAPPY HOUR We won’t be meeting in January, since the first Wednesday falls on
January 1, a holiday. Happy Hour will resume on Wednesday, February 5 at 4:00pm at San Juan Creek Golf Club. Everyone is welcome. It is a great way in a casual atmosphere to get to know your fellow AAUW members. You just need to let Suzi Klickstein know if you are coming, so we can set up the right amount of tables and chairs. Please don’t forget to wear your name tag.

LUNCH BUNCH will become the Dinner Bunch on Wednesday, January 8th to enjoy the
beautiful lights at Dana Point Harbor one last time. Join us at 5pm at Harpoon Henry’s,

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

Foreign Policy Association logoINTERNATIONAL INTERESTS  generally meets at 1:00 on the second Tuesday of the month, but will not meet in January. Please let Irene Berardesco know if you would like to be on the email distribution list for 2024-25. Topics are selected from the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions Series. MATINEE DRAMA will meet Jan. 10 at 1:00 at the home of Suzi Klickstein. We will be reading the play ENCHANTED APRIL, which is under consideration for next year’s season at the Cabrillo. Takes place in England. Try out your English accents…..or not. All are welcome! Contact Tanya Johnson for information.

MEANDERING WOMEN, walk at Dana Point Harbor at 10am on most Saturdays, unless it is a meeting day or otherwise specified. Everyone is welcome. We meet in front of Harpoon Henry’s. It is an easy three mile walk around the Harbor. Sandy Cupp and Marge Hobbs are co-leaders.

MOVIE GROUP usually meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7PM at the home of Joan Nielsen.  Contact: Joan Nielsen.
