Interest Groups Summer 2025
For information about any Interest Group or to share an idea for forming a new Interest Group, contact Catherine McLoughlin. If there are Interest Group changes during the month, the Interest Group information leaders will communicate with their group members via email.

Day Trippers Interest Group
A July event is scheduled. Please contact Kathy Constantine if you have questions or are interested in becoming a member.
Please join us on Tuesday, July 15 to visit the new Hilbert Museum of California Art located at Chapman College in Orange (free entry). After visiting the museum we will have lunch at one of the many restaurants near the downtown Orange Circle. Let us know if you have a favorite restaurant in the area that we should consider. The plan is to carpool (free parking) and arrive at the museum for a 10:30 am entry. Or drive on your own and meet us there. Sign up with Audie Sturla by June 20th.
BOOK DISCUSSIONS
BOOK WORMS will meet on Thursday, July 24 at 1:00 at Jane Robinett’s home to discuss the book The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore. Nasra Kwentus will lead the discussion. Please RSVP to Jane if you will be attending, or not!
Bookworms will meet Thursday, August 28 at 1:00 at Marge Hobb’s home to discuss the book The Violin Conspiracy by Brendon Slocumb. Jane Robinett will lead the discussion. Please RSVP to Marge if you will be attending or not.

CONTEMPORARY NOVELS, PLUS will meet on Monday, July 28 at 1:00 at the home of Kathleen Hennessy to discuss The Forest of Vanishing Stars by Kristin Harmel. Information will be sent to members via email. Contact person: Tammy Isaacs.
EVENING BOOKS will meet at 6PM on Monday, July 21 at the home of Joan Nielsen for our annual potluck and book selection party.
On Monday, August 18, the group meets at 7PM at the home of Jane Robinett to discuss The Women: A Novel by Kristin Hannah. Audie Sturla will lead the discussion.

LITERARY CONVERSATIONS meets on the first Monday of the month at 1:00 pm. No meeting in July.

GAMES
BRIDGE: The AAUW Bridge group meets on the second Thursday of the month, at Fratello’s 647 Camino de los Flores, San Clemente at 11am. The group will meet the second Thursday at 11am at Fratello’s 647 Camino de los Mares #126, San Clemente. There will be 2 duplicate tables and one table of newer players. Please contact Nasrah Kwentus if you would like to be on the sub list which we always need! Looking forward to adding you!
MAH JONGG: The Mah Jongg group meets every two weeks on Friday evening at 6 p.m. We would love to have new players. If you would like to join the group or learn to play Mah Jongg, contact Jane Robinett.
DINE OUT OPPORTUNITIES
HAPPY HOUR meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00pm at San Juan Creek Golf Club. Summer dates are July 2 and August 6. Everyone is welcome. It is a great way in a casual atmosphere to get to know your fellow AAUW members. You just need to let Suzi Klickstein know if you are coming, so we can set up the right amount of tables and chairs. Please don’t forget to wear your name tag.
LUNCH BUNCH The Lunch Bunch will meet July 16th at 5:00 to enjoy a lovely evening at O’Neill’s Bar and Grill at Arroyo Trubuco Golf Course. Join us at 26772 Avery Parkway, Mission Viejo. Please make reservations with Lynda by July 13th.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS
INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS will not meet in July. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 12 at 1:00 at Patricia Busch’s home, and our topic will be U.S.-China Relations. MATINEE DRAMA meets on the second Friday of the month at 1:00, but will be dark for the summer. All are welcome! Contact Tanya Johnson for information.
MEANDERING MAIDENS A small group of us walk around Dana Point Harbor most Saturdays at 10am. We meet outside of Harpoon Henry’s. It is a very pleasant and easy 2 1/2 mile walk. If you would like to join us, contact Suzi Klickstein and we will add you to our contact list.
